Featuring a redesigned shield, AIM+ shell structure, wind tunnel-tested aerodynamics, cooling ventilation, wide visibility and a comfortable, lightweight fit. The Shoei Hornet DS can be used in three configurations:
with visor and shield, with just shield, or with just visor.

A wide, 3-dimensionally curved shield completely seals against the eyeport beading
Lightweight, Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+) shell
Visor includes a front air intake to channel air into top of helmet
Shutter behind nose cover directs air flow to clear shield fogging
Fully removable 3-D interior, with 5-layer cheekpads that are channeled for eyeglasses

reserched helmet and compared to arai. I ride off road (wr450) and on w/ a bmw r1200gs some off with the gs. this helmet is good quality. very light. pretty quiet. on hi way w/ visor. over 55-60 visor catches the wind when you turn your head so not so good for hiway. take visor off and its good up to 80+. wind noise at 80 ok. no buffeting. on the gs.
the helmet is built to accomodate goggles and it does. bonus nice wide view no restrictions for eyesight. plenty of ventilation for hot day's.
negative: the shield does not seal 100% around. but ran 200mi in a moderate rain Maine to Cape Cod. and was dryinside. Visor not as big as my motocross helmet and does not block sun so well. so over all
I've run over 600 miles w/ this helmet and i am quiet pleased. so if rideing backroads/ off roads keep the visor on. if your hitting faster roads take it off. comes w/ necessary plugs and hardware to use w/out visor. I perticularly like the non restrictive view. so
go buy it!
